Tampa, FL, October 4, 2023: Nvirotect Pest Control Services has completed a two year project to install the largest flagpole and raise the largest Thin Blue Line flag in the State of Florida to honor the sacrifices that law enforcement makes to keep our communities safe.

Breaking ground on August 25th, the 224 ft tall flagpole, officially named ‘Freedom,’ flies the Thin Blue Line flag to not only honor law enforcement, but also our country. The initial piece of steel, 48 inches at its base, was planted into the ground on Monday, September 11th, 2023, further inspiring the name of the flagpole. The Thin Blue Line flag was initially created by the British Red Coats in 1854 and included a thin red line to represent the troops on the front lines. It was then adopted by United States law enforcement with a thin blue line in the 1950s to represent the relationship of law enforcement in the community as protectors of civilians from unlawful acts. In 2014, high school student Andrew Jacob, was inspired to merge the United States Flag with the Thin Blue Line flag to honor fallen officers. Jacob’s said, “The flag has no association with racism, hatred, bigotry,” he said, “It’s a flag to show support for law enforcement – no politics involved.”

With this two year project, Nvirotect Pest Control Services raised the flag as a way to recognize and give thanks for the sacrifices made by law enforcement while protecting the American
people.

“We support our country and hold law enforcement in the highest regard and want to show our appreciation and acknowledgement for the good that law enforcement members do every day,” said Nvirotect Pest Control Services owner. “We have no ill will in raising this flag and are vehemently against any abuse of power or injustices within law enforcement and in general. We are proud to be a diverse team of individuals that condemn discrimination and focus on spreading only positivity in our community.”

The flagpole, 29 feet underground and supporting the 350 pound flag, was assembled by 2 cranes maneuvering the more than 80,000 pounds of steel. The 100’ x 60’ flag was first raised at 6am on Friday, September 22, 2023, by a group that included five Nvirotect Pest Control Services team members.
